RE: TBM Shock Jet

I'm not sure that I have ANY mixed into mine with full flaps. "Your mileage may vary," based in part of weight, CG, etc. You definitely don't need any with "half flaps." Try it at altitude and...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Sure sorry about your loss!

I SERIOUSLY doubt that this is an Rx/Tx problem, though. If the Rx went into a hold the servos would have stayed at neutral (failsafe) position. A hold should not...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

The one satellite Rx should be fine if properly located. If you have any doubts, plug in a data monitor and see how many fades or frame losses you have. If you're losing any frames or have more...

Hi George,

I own both and both have their advantages and disadvantages.

ShockJet
Advantages:
1. Will fly on virtually any regular sized RC field.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Roy,
Do you have a good flying site for jets in or near Martinsville? I was down there with some fellow modellers last August and we flew at the Martinsville field on the old dump site, but they...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Read the early parts of this forum. Your aluminum wing joiner should have plywood inserts for its cutouts. If not you'll need to makes some. After that, glue the joiner in well with lots of good...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

I've got the big Kevlar fuel tank. It clears the rear "bulkhead" with the circular hole in it for the starter by about 1". My JetCat P60's starter extends about 1/2" through the hole so it clears...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Jim,

Welcome.

You're gonna love the ShockJet! It's the "Ugly Stick" or Roddy Dangerfield ("I don't get no respect!") of the turbine world.

Like the Ugly Stick, it's probably...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Any hardwood dowel will work. Each one is only about 0.7"long. If you have access to a lathe, it's easy to drill them out right on center. If not you can do it with a drill press if you line it up...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Gerry, thanks.
4, 5, and 6 can be done "after the fact"and are good suggestions. I will implement the ones I haven't done already ASAP.
However, 1 and 2 can only be done on a new, unassembled...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Like Dave, I'm now concerned about this even though I have about a dozen flights on mine with a JetCat P60se and no problems. I also followed your approach above and put gobs of Hysol on the aluminum...

Lormuhl-

Thanks for the photos and update.  I'm sure sorry about your loss, even though you did get 100 flights.  Jets should last longer, they don't beat themselves to death from engine vibration...

I don't see any glue on the aluminum channel joiner. Did you glue it in?
