I test ran the engine yesterday. Once the needles were reset it ran fine with 25/10/2 prop. Idle about 1,600 rpm and top about 6,250 rpm with good transition. Other events intervened so no flight yet.

Yes there was some oil on the outside of the engine but I couldn't tell where it was coming from until I removed the cylinder. Took me a long time to figure it out. Some of us are slower than others.

I found the problem. The cylinder liner had rotated and was not lined up with the ports. Now fixed. Will test run tomorrow. Usually these cylinder liners don't move at all. My fault for not checking.

I was doing some maintaince on the Spitfire, had the cowl and weight platform off. The lead ballast weights 3 lbs. Total weight of plane is 22.5 lbs but flies ok. Don't have the specs on the cg.
