RE: Show us your scratch built foamys

No, while my design was shooting for a 3D look, I only equipped it with a 200W outrunner to give a mild sports perfomance and thats exactly what I got.

I have been looking at the over 300W...

RE: Show us your scratch built foamys

RE: Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B

yeah, the open gearbox with a forced airflow is a lot different environment to the control tubes.

The silcon spray that I used is harmless to foam (much to my surprise). I only had it on hand...

RE: Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B

just an update for those that were wondering, I flew her this morning and the aileron "well covers" didn't appear to make any noticable differance, it certainly didn't make it worse though.

I...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hey FoxHat

bite the bullet and get rechargeable AAs, its a bit more outlay but they pay for themselves quickly.

I went with 8 Energisers 2500mAH first and cost over $55au without charger,...

RE: Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B

sorry to hear about your maiden day out Jinxx.

Too windy today here, so I got experimenting with my Spitty. I have been looking at the aileron design how the under side has those deep wells...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hi Foxhat

Yes the motors are the same, you just may have trouble fitting the 9 cell in (without hacking the compartment). It will take the 9.6 8 cell which provides improved performance over...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

My son and I took our Supercubs to the local recreation grounds this afternoon for a flight.

Not long after we were in the air when we were set upon by a Magpie (native bird) guarding its...

RE: Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B

Its a few weeks since I have had mine apart but fairly sure it is
bush
nut
prop
spinner base
washer
nut
spinner top.

The bush is there to hold the prop forward when you close the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Yeah you're right, but I am working on the "if its not broken, don't fix it" system for the time being, plus I wanted to keep every thing stock until I get everything sorted.

I had a dead...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hey FoxHat,
awesome job on the lights. I wouldn't mind seeing some piccies of the wiring job, assuming that its run under the wing, or were you able to tunnel internally?

Here is my latest...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Tim,
takes about 40-50 mins with the 1000mAH.

I have 1200mAH 8 cells and they take just over an hour on 1.3A.

If any one is interested, here is the logview chart from my RC-Power 601BC...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hi Tim,

the 7 cell stock batteries are recommended to be charged at 1.2A and the 9 cell stock batteries (for the Spitfire) at 1.4A, so I figured the 8 cell should be 1.3A. My 8 cells have...

EmmEff

If you are getting new batteries, don't bother with the 7 cell, go straight for the 8 cell pack. They are the next best thing before going to LiPos which need a different charger.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

easy, yes the 8 cell will fit perfectly and the mini connector is right for the stock SC
I have 2 x 8 cell 1200maH of these and they are the best thing without going the LiPo way. You do need...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I got my SC just over a month ago and have put 50 flights on it now, luckily without a scratch so far (touch wood). I have never hand launched it as it takes of from the ground so easily,...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Speaking of SuperCub Aileron Mods, I have a burning question.

If you mount 2 servos out on the wing in line with each aileron, how do these get connected up to the RX?

I was planning to use...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I have got to agree (especially as I have the Spitty already), the trojan isn't the most attractive plane out there.

Yeah, I got to see these in real life at an airshow recently. Man those Trojans are a big aircraft for a 2 seater, and the noise on take off was something to behold.

Maybe you should start a...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Yeah, spot on. I forgot that I actually did the taxi test first myself.

It gave me a lot of confidence to run it about 3/4 throttle until the tail lifted and hold it at that speed. It also...
