RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Sir,
I would guess say, I bet you allowed the muffler to come loose and you flew it for a while. The cracks develop from the vibration coming from the motor or a prop that is out of balance. I...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

I flew the crap out of my Edge today. I am going to move my batteries back to the front edge of the wing tube. It flew pretty nose heavy and the nose dropped on an inverted 45 upline. I will try...

My suggestion is to not use an IBEC. Anytime you attach anything to your ignition and then to the reciever....bad things can happen. I have heard of far to many planes having engine and brown out...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Goose,
I thought I should tell you. I rebalanced my Edge last night and realized it was very nose heavy. Not sure how I missed this the first time. I ended up placing my batteries just in front...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

The prop for the DLE is kinda tough without a weight on your plane. I have a 9 lb RV4 that flies very nicely with a 16X8. My friend has the AW Extra 60/90 that weighs seven pounds works awesome on...

Dave,
I had the same problem, so I bought a used topper for my truck. It was cheap. Just a question on using a break in prop...That really only appies to glow motors. You should put the prop on...

That motor likes a 24 X 8. Anything smaller will cause it to rip. That may be the noise you are hearing

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

I run 40 to 1 ratio on everything except my DLE20. Per Jody, he suggested running it at 32 to 1 due to the high rpm that the DLE 20 runs. The bearings need much more oil in this little motor. Oil...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Goose,
I have been using Stihl Ultra HP for the past four years. It works great. I run it from the first tank to the last tank. Using synthetic is fine to use in break in. That is a wife's...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Goose,
Have you tried the new graphic material from B and E. It is called air release vinyl. The graphic go on much easier and you get no air bubbles. It makes putting on the most complicated...

23X8 laminated Xoar is a perfect IMAC prop. This is the prop I use

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

I am sorry about the late post. I was gone this weekend. Goose was correct. There is slight coupling on the Edge as with most others. My radio is an Aurora 9. It allows me to add an Knife edge...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Dave,
Yes the throttle cure will take care of most of the problem, but proper throttle geometry is still the best technique. Its like using sub trim on a servo arm instead of just placing the...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Dave
If you use a 1/4 longer arm on the motor than what's on the servo you will get a much more linear response.

That is about where my packs were placed. The recvr packs were dual 2600 fromeco packs. I used a 4 cell 2000 mah pack supplying power to the ignition. I found the plane wants just a tad bit...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

I worked on mine quite a bit to get it light that is why I got so close on your final weight. I love the scale details of your plane, but at my altitude, its not worth it. If I had a DA60 maybe. I...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Dave,
I tend to agree with you on carbon tail wheel(weight savings), but AW components are top notch and they stand behind their products. The fit on any of the AW carbon stuff has always been...

I forgot to mention the extra weight of the metal wing tube and gear. I think there is at least 6 ounces to save there

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

The wings are longer, the fuse is longer, and the rudder is longer. All that translates to more weight. A standard muffler weights around 4 to 5 ounces. A small pits weighs about 8 to 10...

RE: Goose's 50cc Aeroworks Edge 540 (orange) assembly thread...

Dave
The 300 is quite a bit smaller plane than the Edge. I am guessing with all of Goose's extra's, his plane will be 18.5 pounds. I did a lot of lighting to my Edge and it came out at 17 3/4...
