RE: OS 55AX problems

Hi Ed, I always thought the mac's black mufflers just saved a little weight and were one piece which is nice...... until I tried the extra volume one made for the 50, 55, and 60NX. They make a...

RE: OS 55AX problems

Yes Mustangman! That's THE pipe for the 55! You'll be amazed what a difference between that and the stock muffler, and yes, a 12x4 is a bit small, will wind up like crazy though with that pipe...

RE: OS 55AX problems

Yes, cooler temps means denser air, means more oxygen getting into the engine, means slightly richer tuning, means more overall power.

Was it the Mac's mufflers you ordered? Be sure to get the...

Yes, why is that the low end on the 55's are sensitive to weather changes like that? Most aren't that sensitive.

RE: OS 55AX problems

Interesting. Of course it is actually "doable" because the LSN is slightly angled back from the carb. I would definitely check for stalling when you abrubtliy open the throttle from idle before...

RE: OS 55AX problems

Mine 2 tend to have a rich spot at about 1/4 throttle, especially with the stock muffler. So as it breaks in keep leaning the low speed needle until it hesitates when you hit the throttle. Then...

RE: OS 55AX problems

Get the dedicated Mac's muffler for the .55 if you want to really see how it can perform. Much like a tuned pipe but still has good bottom end too. Night and day difference compared to the stock...

RE: OS 55AX problems

The HS 85 servo is even better but costs a little more. I've puked the 81's and 82's on high vibration profiles with short stiff linkages, but never the 85!

RE: OS 55AX problems

My 55 would sometimes die at about 1/3 throttle also until I discovered that the low speed needle needed to be leaned more than most engines. In other words go ahead and lean it until the engine...
