RE: Official Hobby Zone

Nice - very good for a first flight!

When flying in wind, you should stand at the downwind end of the field and keep the airplane upwind of you all the time - in strong winds if the plane gets...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

One additional point that you might check before doing the adjustment described in the post below... you want to make sure that the servo arms are centered on the two servos that are in the body of...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

I'm not sure what you mean by "o.g. supercub", but if you're talking about one of the original supercubs with the NiMh batteries and the 5 wire servos and brushed motor, my guess is that the LVC...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

"I flew many 27 MHz airplanes and helis. Never had a problem even at 1000 feet."

I believe that, but then I also believe people who say "I have never worn a seat belt when driving and I've...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

The supercub that comes with a 2.4 gig transmitter (Supercub DSM, I think it is) has the option of adding ailerons. I think that it has a combined ESC/RX, but it does have aileron output. And by...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

No, I never saw it. If you have a question you could just post it in here, as I'm sure there's others who can contribute more than I can!

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Boy, it was a while ago that I did that... but I think the motor winding wire did work fine. If I recall correctly, usually strung 3 LED's plus a small resistor - maybe 39 ohms? - in series (the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

My guess is the LVC cutoff jumper fell off of the receiver. When you advance the throttle, the current draw causes the voltage to droop some and it goes below the low voltage cutoff point. With the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Hobbycity has great prices on lipo's, and I've had good luck with most things I've bought from them (including Rhino lipo's). The Turnigy ones get pretty good reviews and I'll probably buy one of...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Hey, would you mind posting some of the details of the trimotor one? What motors did you use, do you run them all from a single channel (i.e. 3 way splitter from the throttle channel? Or the main...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

I think it would be easier to fly that thing than an RC plane, as you'd have the additional sensory inputs (feel the sink rate, peripheral vision, correct perspective of the approaching runway, etc.)...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

That's the first time I've read anything that was even remotely critical of the HXT900's... if you can call measuring and reporting their current draw "critical". Interesting information. Maybe I...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

I haven't had a similar experience, but I do know that if a lipo gets below about 2.7 or 2.8 or so volts/cell (which yours would have after a while in the tree - a while being like a few hours with...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Actually, that's a good idea and it's what I did (edit: but I went brushless)... I think I bought a bare fuselage (which I believe came with the wing hold-down rods and control rods already...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

The servos that come in the Supercub are 5 wire ones, so it won't work with a DSM2 RX. You'll need a couple of servos.

The RX that comes in the SC (the NiMh one that I bought - if someone has...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

johnpcunningham makes an adapter that lets any RX use Xport modules, including the combat one... I think it can even be hooked up in line with the input to the ESC to cause the engine to cut out when...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Have you ever heard of a little thing called "Throttle Management"?!!!

You can always pull back the throttle on a plane that has a lot of power, but if you're at full throttle with a less...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

It's not like a manned mission to Mars or something. Throw the electronics back into and have a go at it. You may have to give it some rudder input or trim to make it fly straight, but a bit of...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Why are you using the new wing? Sheared off? Merely a flesh wound. A bit of 5 minute epoxy and a couple of CF rods or bamboo skewers and she'll be good as new.

If the motor is running good with no...
