I got a new antenna from Hpi and connected it on board to the receiver. Still little range. Any good radio replacements?

Hpi sells an antenna for replacement it is $4.00 at my lhs. That said mine broke like everyones and I put the new one on and still it sucks for range. It really seems like there is a huge delay too...

Already got a new antenna wire on there today so I don't believe it is that.

Anyone fix the loss of range yet with these trucks? Seems like I go about 50 yards or so and my truck is dead on the water. I have to walk to it for it to move anywhere and such. Any suggestions...
