Transmitter Flap Switch Swap

I have a Futaba Fasst 6 channel that has a two position flap switch that I'd like to swap out for a dial. I prefer a variable flap instead of full up or down. Any reason why it shouldn't work?

Question For TF Giant Corsair Builders

It's decision time for coupling the flap segments. The plans / instructions call for using pieces of 4-40 rods however, I've seen many different methods in the posts.
If you had a chance to do it...

Those Bird Dogs had plenty of power when you needed it. Gliders used to drop in my dad's airstrip on the farm (1800 feet) and the L19 was sent in to pull it off no sweat!
