you won't be able to prop hang, because you will not get anything bigger than 11 inch on there (with a bit chopped out of the wing for clearance)

I flew mine from the ocean yesterday.
the tide started to go out during the day, leaving wet mud, she flew off this surface really well too.

the pipe and a good dose of nitro will help a lot, strange plane to fly untill you get used to it, must be making reasonable power, as you got off the grass, good luck.

step hight can be minimal, but having a sharp edge is critical , same goes for the hull sides

I am sure that they do hook up on grass, but it always got away well, before a little extra weight was added.

Wow 9 lbs !!! should be interesting, Mine was built reasonably light and is powered with a 1.8 hp 50sx, this flew it well off the grass with no gear, I added about 7 oz after a repair and it now...

any one is having problems steering on the water just use your ailerons in the same direction as the rudder.
I quite often skate my n star over the ground, so did not want a water rudder hanging...

Here's my newly completed northstar, prior to maiden.
os 50 sx for power, 11/5 apc. she runs real sweet off the grass, who needs wheels ?
i do have quite a bit of elevator throw, which gives plenty...
