I just came across your post while researching my own barely started Royal Spirit of St. Louis kit. As the previous poster stated, there is no build manual included, just a bunch of balsa and a set...

RE: Need 3 Hour Epoxy

I've had good luck with G1 Epoxy from Lee Valley. It was developed for use on home-built airplanes and remains slightly flexible with air frame movement. It has a 1 hour working time with a 24 hour...

Bridi Warlord Specs?

Does anyone have plans or know the recommended low and high rates for the control surfaces on a Bridi Warlord (.40 size). The control surfaces are very small and currently very little travel.

Just to follow up...

I completed the Phoenix 7 and broke the SJ 50 in on the ground as advised before installing in the plane. The plane is finished and yesterday was test day. It was pretty...

RE: SJ50 with H9 Phoenix 7-will it work?

Thanks Bob, I'll try it on the stand first as you suggested but it sounds like it will be a good match. I have an original Bridi Escape kit waiting to be built and maybe that will give me a good...

SJ50 with H9 Phoenix 7-will it work?

I want to learn pattern flying and just purchased a Hangar 9 Phoenix 7 ARF. I don't intend to compete (at this point) but want to be able to fly the classic pattern maneuvers. Since I already own a...

RE: What are Flapperons???

Certainly flaperons are not for every plane, nor every pilot but I have flown them extensively over the past two years on a Kadet LT40.  Before setting them up, I modified the ailerons from...

RE: Flaperons on trainer?

After becoming bored with my Kadet LT-40 and when a crash made a minor rebuild necessary, I equipped it with flaperons. I removed the factory ailerons and added new, full-length, 3" ailerons set up...

RE: .60 size trainer kit

Sig carries the LT40 and other trainer kits. You can buy direct from them. Here's a link to their site:

http://www.sigmfg.com/

Look under their aircraft kits for the trainer page.

RE: .60 size trainer kit

I'll second Radyar on the Sig LT40. I use an OS46AX with a 12/4 or 12/6 prop and it still needs a little nose weight so a .60 should be fine. Sigs kits are top notch and every Kadet I ever saw flew...

RE: Photographing RC planes.

I do have Photoshop and several other high end editors. I just didn't want to spend the time retouching these photos just to post on the web. I use a calibrated screen and because of color space...

RE: Photographing RC planes.

My introduction to RC flying came when I stopped at the local field one day to take some pictures. While I still prefer the quality and work-flow of film for most of my photography, it would be...

RE: Flaperons

I recently recovered an LT40 and replaced the 1-1/2" x full length ailerons with 3" x full length flaperons. The 3-position switch is set up as no flaps, about 15 degrees and about 35 degrees. The...

RE: balsa snapping????

A builder of twenty years experience told me to use vinegar. I keep a spray bottle filled on the bench and can make very tight bends with ease. It is much less toxic to handle and breathe than...

RE: Buccaneer balance question

It took the Kraft and a pound of lead to make it balance. I doubt it will ever get much above quarter to half throttle but if it proves too much, I have all my father-in-law's old engines from the...

RE: Buccaneer balance question

Thanks to those who have offered advice. I have it roughly balanced now with an old .61 Kraft engine and was going to test fly it a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, whoever built it didn't...

RE: Oversized ailerons on LT40????

Thanks to those who responded to my query about the 3" ailerons. The project is finished and has flown about a dozen times. The roll rate is still relatively slow but we are playing with...

Oversized ailerons on LT40????

I am recovering my Kadet LT40 and the ailerons are warped enough to need replacing. After the basic training period, I started doing things for which the LT40 was really not designed and found it...

RE: piper cub pictures

I took these at a Club Float Fly last fall but they are not my planes. I have one nearly done, a Goldberg Anniversary Edition w/floats, that I will be flying at our event this summer.

Buccaneer balance question

I recently bought a (Super?) Buccaneer which appears to have been built from plans around 2000. It has never been flown. The wing is 14" deep by 90" long and has an under camber built in. It has...

Any plane, whether or not it has dihedral, will roll with rudder input. If I remember ground school correctly when I was taking flying lessons, think of angle of attack as your speed control and...

RE: Copper pipes-for exaust systems??

Copper will work harden but if you can remove the pipe you can heat it with a torch or in a forge and then quench it in cold water and it will be like new-soft and pliable. I once participated in a...

History of the Buccaneer???

I recently bought (though I haven't picked it up yet) what appears to be a Buccaneer or a derivative. In trying to research the plane, all the early pictures show it with stringers running down the...
