The thing you have to remember with the D3 is that it is basically a governor drive. RPM will be directly proportional to throttle stick position up to the maximum RPM the ESC was programmed for....

Having used the D3 extensively, it is highly unlikely that this is a problem with its programming or construction.

Being a small and lightweight ESC it has minimal heat sinking capacity and this...

Hi Brenner,

Yes I thought that might be the case, although you could look at a spinner shaped front prop nut and do away with the existing front spinner cone. This might give you a few more...

Hi Brenner,

Yes I'm sure that testing is the way to prove the new setup.

On another matter, have you done any experimentation on prop separation and noise? If an increase in separation produces...

Of course I'm well aware the drive uses the planetary gearset and you are right I'm not thinking about a torque induced failure but the possibility of a pure bending moment being...

Two scenarios which would concern me regarding motor shaft bending are:

a) A nose over on landing or a hard touchdown causing a blade to contact the ground. (This happened to me on an...

I was hoping that someone else would step in here and offer some advice because I'm in danger of hogging this and the Allure thread with my opinions!

Leonardo,

Your timings are going to cause you problems. With the dead time set to 0.6 sec you will be well down a vertical before the brake even goes to initial setting. There is no reason to set...

Leonardo,

The fact that you are running a high gear ratio should mean that when braking your motor is turning faster and you should get more retardation of the props for a given braking setting...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

So if this effect is gyroscopic it will only apply forces to the model when the angle of the spinning mass is changed with respect to the direction it was travelling. i.e. it will precess.

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

Hi Brenner,
