Also VF what type of grass do you fly from. That could be a problem more so than almost anything else. Some grasses are more lush than others. Take centipede grass for example, it is very soft. Even...

Try this. after touch down, raise the flaps. This will cause the tail to drop and helps slows the plane down quicker. Just make sure you are slow enough( on the ground, not approach) not to send it...

I'm running a G-62 on Pennzoil, side dump muffler and a T-6 racing prop. I converted over to an rcxcell ignition a couple years...

Nice job on the plane Joseph. Great job on the flight too. However I must point out the Star and bars on the wing are backwards.

RE: Scale cockpit - Wow

Mine is starting season 8. It was well over 500 flight. It has a G-62 and a racing prop. (138mph)
Last fall I had to pull a servo out of the wing for service. I noticed my shear webs are install...

RE: Scale cockpit - Wow

In 7 years with mine I have made four dead sticks. All with the gear up. no damage.

I once had to land mine with the gear up while the engine was at about 1/3 thottle. The servo arm broke and...

RE: Scale cockpit - Wow

You brought up another point. When landing leave the elavator alone. You set the angle of attack with it and control the decent with throttle.

RE: Scale cockpit - Wow

OMT these are my rules for landing.

High winds, no flaps

Moderate wind, (gusty) half flaps but a little more speed to land. This keeps her from falling out of the sky if the wind stops...

RE: Scale cockpit - Wow

One note to add, you said you where running a 22x8 prop. That is one heck of a brake at idle.

As a personal opinion a 22x8 is not enough prop for that engine(DLE55). My guess is you are turning...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Valve floater, It's called P-factor. The blast off the prop swirls around the plane, so it hits the left side of the rudder more thus causing you to add right rudder to compensate.

Torque,...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

I also run 100% gas in mine. (no ethanol) Luckly I have an old "mom and pop" store near my house that won't upgrade their pump for the Ethanol. So they still get The "good stuff".

Most all...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

It's a Zenoah you don't have to do anything special to them :D

I don't know what CR does but I put mine (G-62) in the trailer at the end of the season. Mine is 7 years old and has 400 to 500...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Both will require you to hack up the cowling for the carb. I would go with the G62. A 23x8 or 22x10 would give you good "scale " performance. The 45 is abit unimpressive. Besided they are basicly...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Check the threads on the cylinder ram. It can turn in the clevis and won't allow it the knukle over.(to short) Reset it, then locktite it. I had the same problem.

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

I use half flap when it's windy.

As for the pitch change, I've never noticed it. As a make my approach with flaps down I'm flying the plane to the ground anyways. I never think about it.

I...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

I believe Al at J-tec is putting "bushings" in them now. I put a peice of aluminium tubing in mine. So far so good.
