RE: HABU 32?

The EC3 would probably be fine however I went with the EC5 that Horizon recommends.

RE: HABU 32?

800 ft would be a piece of cake, I'm flying mine from a 300 paved strip and it's working but I have to touchdown in the first 20 ft, which requires precision landings. For me precision landing means...

RE: HABU 32?

I bought these struts, they are very nicely built and a lot more robust than the wire struts. I have not installed them yet so I can't provide any feedback on how well they actually work yet but they...

RE: HABU 32?

Mine was pretty well balanced right out of the box. Make sure you put some lock tight on the little metal ball that screws on your canopy release.

RE: HABU 32?

I also got the email from HH. I'm happy to see that HH is acknowledging that there is an issue but they are downplaying the seriousness in my opinion. In my case the receiver locked out everytime I...

RE: HABU 32?

Battery has not been a problem so far. Buying 3S packs is much cheaper than a single 6S pack. I have both and have noticed no difference in heat or performance.

RE: HABU 32?

Deans are very popular, but are only rated around 52 amps. I have recently converted everything I have (30+ airplanes and helis) to XT60 connectors, they are much easier to solder, can handle higher...

RE: HABU 32?

You can use a 'y' connector or if one is available you can plug the regulator into to any available socket.

RE: HABU 32?

There are definitely other options, but the little Castle regulator and a small 2S lipo works well and is fairly inexpensive and lightweight. I have five flights on mine so far with no issues. Good...

RE: HABU 32?

That can be done, the advantage of using a smaller 2S lipo is that the lower the input voltage the more efficient the regulator will work. For example, with an input voltage < 12v the Small Castle...

RE: HABU 32?

I use a 500 mah 2S lipo and the 10amp castle creations regulator, I believe this much lighter than a 6v nimh pack, but 1000mah nimh pack should work fine, it all depends on your preference. Plug the...

RE: HABU 32?

I used canopy scissors. You don't need to remove it.

RE: HABU 32?

Hobby King. I bought two Turnigy 3S 30-40C packs and combined them in series to form a 6S pack. Each pack was about $35. If you select the US warehouse items they cost a couple of dollars more but...

RE: HABU 32?

I agree on the HH battery, that's what HH will charge if you buy their battery. $190 is almost three times what I paid for my 30C 6S 5000 batteries over the net. So far, my $70 batteries are...

RE: HABU 32?

I am curious if HH flew their demo aircraft with the same ESC/BEC setup? Has anyone on this thread flown the aircraft exactly as tested by HH, including the $190 battery sold by HH? Based on what I...

RE: HABU 32?

I built mine with the recommended servos and on the ground when running full power my Rx browned out. I reported this about three weeks ago on this thread. I decided to run a separate lipo battery...

RE: HABU 32?

I had a little head wind on the first couple of flights. The two flights I only had a crosswind for landing...just a little head wind really helps slow this plane down for landing.

RE: HABU 32?

Here is the video from flights three and four: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5zR_o2unFY

Max speed attained was 130 MPH measured by radar, the batteries are starting to come alive.

RE: HABU 32?

Thanks for the info on the spray tint. I have used the hot water dye method in the past with success and agree it is not ideal. The spray tint sounds much easier, especially given that the Habu...

RE: HABU 32?

I did not put in the cockpit panel as doing so would have required a different positioning of the battery, which I did not want to do. I read somewhere that someone decided to tint the canopy and I...

RE: HABU 32?

Flight #4 today, max speed straight and level was 130 mph as measured by my Pocket Radar gun. I also noticed a little tail wagging as it zoomed by. Based on the wagging I saw today I would recommend...
