Don't think the reference line needs much air through it, although the diaphragm has to move a bit, so the kink may be the problem.

How tight is the engine? The SPE 26 I have took a lot of time...

Nice job!

A couple ideas spring to mind:-
Did you pipe the Walbro diaphragm cover hole back into the fuz. That's a very common cause of stoppages if you havn't.
