RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Probably the same problem I'm having. Hasn't affected the model any though. Like lbshelfqueen says, it's normally the wheel.

I flipped mine over and spun all the wheels slowly, and you can see...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

With the cost of AM receivers, that radio looks better and better the more I see it. I love my Futaba stuff, but when a receiver without crystal costs more than that entire radio system, and the...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

I hear ya. I still wonder why "The Official Pede Thread" isn't in monster trucks. [&:] I mean if you're gonna move stuff, that one seems obvious enough!

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Well, it's a classic... I mean it's been re-released, but it still originally came out over 20 years ago. :D

Only downside to having it here is it is a less visible forum. I like having all...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I checked it more closely, and it looks like the wheel is the source of the wobble. No way around that I'm afraid.

Happens on my Grasshopper too, it just is...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Ah good deal. I noticed the tire was about 1mm away from the rim at some parts. That could be part of it!

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Nope. I always do one or two packs before gluing, just in case. I figure that helps even them out, or something. I wasn't sure if it was an inherent thing with the LB and those huge tires, or if...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Also, are the wheels and tires supposed to be unbalanced? Maybe it's because of the size but I can't get them to stop wobbling.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Well I took the LB for its maiden voyage. I should have had a stopwatch handy, I believe I kept it upright for 15 seconds or so before flipping and sliding my paintjob off. [&:]

One of my...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Yeah, I think that's the one, the 18 tooth It came with my Brat as one of the 3 choices, and I had pulled the stock 380 off the Grasshopper and noticed that that extra pinion lined up perfectly. :D...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Some more pics/progress from my build.

Bearings finally came. This allowed me to finally complete the gearbox and get on with the build. :D

The Lunch Box has a strange pinion and motor...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Well I finished it!

Bearings came in yesterday afternoon, guess they came USPS rather than UPS. I was expecting a tracking number and all that but I guess I wasn't thinking about just how small...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Ah yes, the wet sticker trick. Done that before, not sure why I neglected to do it this time!

LB, do you have any pics of the wheel damage? I'm guessing they were posted at some point in this...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

I figured that might happen. The inner bearing sockets on the Brat wheels began cracking after just a few weeks.

I'm going to try an experiment with them though. I'm going to wrap a zip tie...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

I noticed the wheels aren't 3 piece on this kit. They seem pretty solid though, even without. The manual says nothing about glue that I can see... Do you guys recommend glue?

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

hahaha... my first build (Brat) took me a couple days. I worked until the wee hours of the morning, it was like an addiction. Also I was inexperienced and had to redo some stuff that wasn't done...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Earlier this afternoon I decided to do the stickers. I have a love-hate relationship with stickers, I love how they really make the box art come to life in your hands, but at the same time placing...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

I normally advise against "skipping around" on instructions for a variety of reasons. But as my progress has been halted by the lack of 5x11 bearings, I decided to jump ahead and do the two parts I...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Indeed! I have half a dozen RCs and I can't wait to run this one. Waiting for the bearings to get here is going to be a killer. I ordered them 3 days ago and don't even have a tracking # yet. ...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

I'm happy to report that after several coats, the body is very, very close to the wheels in terms of color. In some lighting it looks identical, so I would give the Krylon Fusion yellow an A- in...

And yeah, the guy at the hobby shop seemed about as thrilled as I was to see that big cartoonish van that seems to jump right off the box art. ...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Unfortunately, I can go no further. The next few steps require bushings, and as I have bearings on order it would be silly to continue, only to have to disassemble it and reassemble it later. :D ...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Another early step is the installation of the body mount points. I knew they were shiny, so I actually looked in the metal parts bags first, before realizing they were likely plastic and would be on...

RE: Return of Lunchbox..

Onto the actual build! The first step is to assemble the steering servo. With the servo saver built and the plastic blocks attached to the mounting points, it is ready to be installed at the front...
