RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

I don't think those HPI shafts are titanium...I think they are just steel with a titanium-nitride coating to resist scratches and reduce resistance.

Lunsford looks like the right choice for a...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Personally I like the way the Blitz drives and handles jumps a lot better than the E-Firestorm, and a lot of that has to do with the longer chassis and better weight distribution. So if it were me I...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

This is the Pro-Line Short Wheelbase Baja Bug body. On the Pro-Line website you can find it under the Monster Truck category.

Check back to post #2942 from 21 Sep 2009 in this thread for...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

2S Hardcase LiPos. I've got 5000 20C Reedy and 5000 25C Yeah Racing.

Pinion is still the stock 19T, which is really pushing it especially with those Pro-Line Gladiator tires which are heavier...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

I used an HPI Blitz Rear Brace and Rear Skid to give me some added protection for the motor. I've run the TBR rear bumber but have broken them three times! No experience with their wheelie bar...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

I'll back red up on this. I ran 5700 on a big 1/8 track and never used all the motor. The 5700 is nice for bashing when you have the space to open it up.

With the Blitz on the street now...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Definately gave it some thought but too me it looks far too cool with the bug body to make the change-over. I tried my best to hold-off awhile on a Blitz purchase but finally caved-in. Blitz with...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Most likely would fit. Kv is probably low enough to run 3S with the Flux Motive ESC. But I would bet you would need to solder wires and 4mm bullet connectors. Closest plug & play motor would be...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

I broke that once as well where the pin goes through the shaft. Hard to tell the exact cause because a lot was going on at the time that could have contributed. I was at an 8th track and landed...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

I moved the longer stock rear posts to the front mount. Perfect fit on the front.

For the rear I did pick-up an extra-long set of posts. Just found something that was workable at the LHS. The...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

2S is plenty fast enough for me…but if you insist on running 3S and don't care about voiding your warranty, you could try, at your own risk, wiring in a CC BEC to take some load off the ESC (plus a...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Mounted a Pro-Line Baja Bug (Short Wheelbase) body to my E-Firestorm. Picked up HPI's V-Pattern Sandthrower rear paddles (which appear to be inspired be Kenda Sand Gecko ATV paddle tires) for running...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

At one point someone had mentioned running something as thick as 60K. I'm interested to hear how the 50K will work out for you, basically how it effects turn-radius and how long it last before...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

4WD is a world of difference when bashing off-road especially in rough terrain. Even with adequate ground clearance and a very plush suspension, these light 2WD STs start gettin bounced around alot...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Wow those gears must have been defective from the factory. It should still be under warranty so HPI customer shopport should send you some replacement gears to drop into the diff. I would just...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

- Brushless system (because it's fun)
- T-Bone bumpers (rear bumper especially)
- Gear Diff Oil (if just for bashing than 30K or 60K is great because it doesn't seep out so quick)

If racing,...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Thanks for the kind words.

I haven't taken many more pictures of the truck since the ones in this post:

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

The video was made before the E-Firestorm Flux was announced. I guess they were trying to demonstrate the truck was brushless ready, and that a brushless system would eventually become available. ...

Looks great! Nice race-inspired paint job too. Looks very FORD-like. Also great choice for your battery, I have a pair of those myself.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

On the streets the Flux will eat the E-Savage for lunch. It probably has a good 10 MPH in top speed over the E-Savage.

Off-road a little different story. In a short drag race the 4wd is a huge...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Same here. I keep my E-Firestorm off the streets and just use it off-road. The 1/16 scale TamTech buggies are my cars for on-road fun. They drive similar to a 1/10 ST, have no issues handling mini...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

No, the Castle CMS36-5700 motor that comes with the Castle 1/10 Sidewinder 5700 System fits the E-Firestorm without any modifications required.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Wow I'm surprized someone is selling that type adapter to use in a Flux! Even if that particular connector is made of something material that can survive high temperatures, who knows if the battery...

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Another vote for ugly! However these protect the truck like nobody's business. Recently I cartwheeled big time, but it was more funny to watch because of the way it sort of just wheeled around and...
