If you want to use auto paint, I'd go with Auto Air paints. I've had a lot of good luck with them.

Did you wash the body with soap and water and completely dry it before you painted? How thick...

Frisket film would be ok, but make sure it's high tack. A low / medium tends to lift at and contour change when it's got air coming at it.

For striping, I always use K-tape, though. Awesome...

Yep, Bob Dively. No other LPM has worked well for me.

3m High Tack masking tape and Kustom Shop pinstriping tape takes care of the rest.

Yeah, the new exhaust would help big-time. The LST2 2 Speed assembly would be a good idea, too, since the Aftershock uses a bushing system and the LST2 uses a bearing.

I'd say an RC18T or a Duratrax Vandetta ST would be a great choice. Both seem to be able to take a beating and keep on going.

Yes, it's better than the Mamba 25. What vehicle, setup, and conditions will you be running the motor in? That will make all the difference for what you should choose.

Looks like you're well on your way. I'd definitely go with the 3Racing shocks. They are far superior to the FT shocks, IMO.

Another thing that I'd recommend is getting the FFRC rubber...

The 1/10 uses 4mm connectors and mine came with 3 extra motor connectors in the box. Your best bet is to just call / email CC, they're quick and helpful.
