RE: Front steerable strut - how to

Since you are a builder, get a Balsa USA Stik 40 Plus. It will throw together in no time and is seriously rugged. Also good at slow flight.

It comes as a tail dragger but I set it up...

RE: Our first plane

A lot of trainers look pretty scale. Like a sort of generic light plane. I get a strip of sticky chrome Monocote and use it to make windows.

RE: Our first plane

Club is a very good idea. You may find someone there who has soloed and wants to sell his trainer at a good price. Some clubs even have a club trainer.

And the instructor will often take you...

RE: Our first plane

You may want to consider the Stik 40 Plus from Balsa USA. Price ain't bad. Simple build, about 1 step up form an ARF. And solidly built so it will survive some beginner's prangs. Worse comes to...

RE: Eagle 2 or Sig Kadet Mk 2 ?

not sure you would have to shave weight on the Mk II if you build light. I flew a Seniorita on a bushing 20 for years.

RE: OS max 52 surpass 4 stroke is this true

Fuel and warming up will help compression. Also check the valve settings.

RE: Tri Gear versus Tail Dragger

Agreed. Trike gear is a bit easier to taxi around and land. Plenty of time to drag your tail later.

I did the aileron conversion though and really liked it better. I think it was easier to fly....

RE: Suggestions for first kit for 13 year old

The Senior series and Teles have a more complicated bird cage rear fuselage. I'd suggest an LT. SImple fuselage and the wing ain't bad.

RE: Hand-me-down trainer

If you are oil soaked, get a can of Texize K2R, spray and dust off. Badly soaked may need a few applications but this is good stuff.

RE: telemaster 40

I'd recommend a 4 stroke about 60 to 70 size.

Planes like the Tele love to putter around with a slower revving engine swinging a big prop.

RE: Has anyone scaled up a Guillow kit for glow or electric?

Actually, the larger kit series can be flown with 1/2 gas and mini sized servos. I believe I have seen some with 0.49 installations drawn on the plans.

If you want throttle control, Cox now sells...
