RE: Cloth Covering

Thanks for the silk info - now, how did you work with it? Mostly I'm concerned about the shrinking and what you used for paint.

Cloth Covering

I'm searching and can't find what I want - please help. I'm almost done with a Balsa USA 40 sized Taube and want to cover it with cloth and paint and keep the antique look. My question is: how do I...

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

All the previous posts were correct and the plane looks great! Please post how it flies and make sure you balance it with all the hardware aboard. Don't worry if it came out over plan, most plans...

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

This is my color scheme - just like on the box except for using yellow trim instead of white. Yellow is easier to spot in the air.

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

Back now after a long trip. Your method of bolting the wing on looks different than mine, but still a great job. On your cowl, you might consider placing a patch of CA hinge material in the cowl in...

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

You've got me on that one. All I know is that I set mine the way I stated and there's no problem. Also, especially if you haven't flown a bipe before, now you've got 2 ailerons / side and this...

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

I used an HS-81 in the fuse and I don't think I'll have any issues. Two servos might be overkill + the weight factor. Also, according to your drawing, you're running the control horns under the...

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

Like I said - I bolted the wings on because I was nervous about the wings holding location with rubber bands. Rubber gets weak if you don't change it occasionally and with a strong engine, or...

RE: Herr Pitts Special Kit Build Thread

I just found this post, so please excuse me if I'm a little late in "helping", but I just finished my Herr Pitts, but haven't flown it yet. I'm running a K&B BB .18 and it fit fine. I've also got a...

RE: GP Ultimate .40

Ultimate builds great and flys even better. I used an GMS.61 and it has plenty of power. Be careful with the wing incidences and the engine thrust line and the plane will fly very true. With the...

RE: How to tint a canopy?

I've done the Rit route, but don't make the water too hot or leave the canopy in too long. Check it often. Too hot will distort the plastic very quickly and leaving the canopy in the Rit too long...

RE: four star 40

I flew a 4*40 for years with a .46 up front. Spins, tumbles.....anything and the plane always held up great. Even a few rough landings never hurt the wing. Build to the plans and then fly the...

RE: How Many Times Have You Flown In The New Year?

I live north of Detroit so I fit your profile. I hosted a club fly-in on Jan. 1 and had about 25 flyers show up and go airborne. The ground was frozen, temps were about 30 with little wind. Two...
