This is the actual cable I bought. Like I said it's about a year and half old and still works fine with G2 and AFP.

Check on Ebay. I bought a gameport interface that turned my radio into a joystick. Works with all the sims. It was over a year ago but I think I paid around $25 for it.

That Katana doesn't fly wrong like that without changing settings does it? If so I don't know how people on here can be saying that XTR is better at airplane flight physics than AFP.

You should be able to pull the crystal module out from the top of the radio. Makes the batteries last for a long time.

You can do all of those realistically in the older AFP. I haven't tried G3 but I don't think you can go wrong with AFPD. G2 (which I do own) is really bad for 3D.

I second the AFP recommendation. I have G2 and AFP and haven't touched G2 since I bought AFP. If you get to the point where you want to do 3D flying you'll be set with AFP.
