do you believe the planforms, moments and/or incidences and dihedrals were different between the two kits (MK and HB)?

Jeff,

Dean Pappas (same RCU handle) might be the person to ask - he seems to be quite familiar with the Magic's tendencies and might have some good insight as to how to "improve" its flight...
