I love how grimy this is becoming! I have always been struck with how dirty and grimy the airplanes in the Palestine theater became. And I don't think it was just because the planes were more CDL...

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

John, I'm amazed at the details you have been able to glean from these old photos. Not to mention your applying them to the model. Well done!

Here's a set done by a friend - 35%. Lettering was done by hand.

Nice job on the tyre lettering - font looks good. It takes a patient and steady hand.

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

Missed seeing the Vickers at Rhinebeck, John. Sunday was a beautiful day, but I understand being careful with family time.

I always like looking at other peoples' rigging solutions. Your strut...

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

Grinding them down to 1/16"? Ow! I can feel my fingers aching in sympathy.

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

That compass looks great, John. It's interesting how these details become "models within the models".

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

I really like the stringers and open framework on this - my next model will have something like it. Your kitchen stove really puts the size into perspective. I would have thought you would have it...

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

I made the mistake of trusting the Arizona Aircrafter drawings available online. Their kit instructions, with parts, is on their site and I used those parts as a basis. I have stuff from Harry...

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

Hi John:

I'm sure you can scratch-build a Vickers, and there are lots of references. The barrel jacket is the challenge - perhaps cut louvers with a punch and form litho.

I am working on a...

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

Hmmm... I like the control tree. Could you describe how you built it? (materials and sizes) I'm close to needing to do mine.

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

Yes, you can take it as a compliment. The Vickers is looking really good - inspiring as I wait for Aviatik tail laminations to dry.

I'll be interested in the MR wheels. His website quotes them...

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

Pretty cute looking John! It just needs a 3 yr old on board!

It's really looking like a recognizable Vickers now.

How do you like using the MR fittings?

RE: 1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

It's starting to really look like something now.

I am unfamiliar with Mick Reeves hinges - I can't recall seeing them on his website. Do you have a photo?

Thanks,

Thanks,
