RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Thats what I did, got the Flux 2350, bought the HP motor for $140, took the 2350 motor out and put it in my 1/8 onroader, and I use HK 120A 1/8 Brushless ESC's over MMM's anyway, so $50 for the...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

I made the mistake of trying the T Bone stuff on my Hyper 10SC, poor fit and butt ugly to boot, so I gave up!

Antenna wire I rout over the brace that sits on the centre transmission and then put...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

The 60t Spur isn't out yet is it? So really you can't gear any lower than it is without hacking things up.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Well I need my 3800 motor for Corr racing so I slapped the stocker back in, back to a stock truck besides the DS1210 Servo, a Receiver Cap and 3prka radio, did manage to slot a couple of heatsinks on...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Not sure the fan will do much as it's a plastic heatshield so won't add to the surface area to aid dissipation and the can has no cooling fins.

When the new idler / spur is out I think best move...

Stock Vapour Pro ESC with the 115A reading (a good scientist only changes one variable at a time!)

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

I'm getting an appreciation as to how bad the stock motor is (effects of cheaping out of the magnets)

I threw the 4000kv motor in my Hyper 10SC geared for 30mph (racing)

My Q Base ESC fan...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Didn't you say that the ESC was a rebadged MMP and that it had an external BEC as well? (When it's just a Sidewinder SV2 and a receiver powered fan slapped on top)

I'd love to argue the point...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Thats one thing I hate about Squirrel (as well as his long winded vids) some of his ideas are nonsensical but people take it as gospel, personally I found the hard way that neither squirrel or "the...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Seems to me the stock ESC isn't bad on 2s, on 3s the problems happen, but the Sidewinder SCT combo was sold as not suitable for 3s, so not sure why the same ESC would suddenly be able to handle 3s...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

The heatsink isn't coated, also the HPI XS esc is based on the Sidewinder SV2 which is not waterproofed, and do a forum search, a fair few failures on 3s with that one too!

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Bulls#it

Most issues people have with the Velineon ESC is an overactive LVC cut off and a lot of that is using substandard packs, voltage drop under load trips the LVC. The first Velineon ESC's...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

If the 1410 motor was 4600rpm not 3800rpm, it WOULD draw more amps than the 1406 4600kv in the same situation.

Castle have verified on rcmonster that the Flux XS motor is a Castle motor, see...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

I think the quality in general of castle gear has dropped compared to the old Mamba Max days.

These Traxxas / HPI rebadged are a bulk contract to them, If Traxxas is ponying up the $$ Castle...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

I've seen people blow the ECU in a car by throwing in a cheap battery instead of one with the recommended Cold Cranking Amps. Same thing, voltage sag under load (when starting with lights on),...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

I've kept the stocker in mine just because I don't really run 3s anyway. I figure if I run through puddles enough, it won't let the smoke out.... maybe that logic is a tad flawed.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

The stock is a Castle Sidewinder SV2 so I'd say an old school Mechanical speedy is stronger :)

If it were me I'd go for this one:

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

No but considering that it's $20-$30 to send an ESC from Australia to Castle, wait 2 weeks for it to get there, 3 or 4 weeks in repair and 2-3 weeks to get back, when I can buy a Hobbyking 120A 1/8...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Yep which is why my Flux 2350 now has a Hobbyking 120A esc in it instead of that Q Base thing, and why my Wraith has a Hobbyking 60A Sensored esc and not the Castle / Axial thing.

The 120A would...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

The problem isn't the HPI Components, it's the Castle Electrics, but do a Forum search on MMMXL Recall, MMM blowing up on 6s Lipo, MMP BEC issues, Sidewinder's running hot etc and it's pretty clear...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Easy, open the receiver box, remove the esc plug from ch2, hook up a battery, if the extra plug is the bec like you say the receiver should be on. If it was a BEC the receiver would be powered even...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

Lets keep it simple: ESC Wire is 3 wires (White Red and Black) and goes to Channel 2
The 2 wire lead going to CB is just the fan that sits on top of the ESC.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...

If I go strictly by the manual, this pack should work fine, it's over 25C and noowhere does the manual say the pack have to be of a certain capacity.
