If it's not on the track, then it's bashing. Even if it's in a parking lot with cones set up, it's bashing. Racing is done at the track.

I don't know about a MOPAR engine, but my Kia Optima's 2.4l 4 cylinder is a Mitsubishi engine.

Check the glow plug and then the rest of the engine for air leaks. When an engines temp increases, some metals expand more than others and air leaks can be made worse.

I definitely wouldn't worry about the oil in the exhaust coming into the tank. I've never seen that happen. Push the tube in 1/4 to 3/8 inch.
