RE: Building a Bonanza

I am afraid not. This kit has been on hold for a while. It's ready for paint but other things have been taking priority. All I do know is that it has to be well run in before flying.

RE: Building a Bonanza

That's very nice indeed. Interesting how much down ruddervator trim you have to have.

RE: Kit bashing the Top Flite Bonanza to a Barron!!

That's strange. Post 377 is the last I saw. Where will I find posts covering paint and the first flight?

RE: Kit bashing the Top Flite Bonanza to a Barron!!

Looks great from here. Did you have any closer shots, especially during the latter stages of construction?

RE: Kit bashing the Top Flite Bonanza to a Barron!!

Maybe you would have more success selling a kit if you showed a picture of what the finished product looks like?

RE: Building a Bonanza

Good luck on the new power plant. I am in hiatus on my build while I dig into other activities. No motor worries yet!

RE: Building a Bonanza

I have been measuring from A but I built the ruddervators straight to the plan and parts. Are you saying this results in an incorrect incidence?

RE: Building a Bonanza

I have been following your build and adding a "few things" is a gross understatement!

RE: Building a Bonanza

Looking much better. I was afraid you had shelved it for a while! Do you follow RCScalebuilder? There were a couple of excellent how-tos on riveting recently inside a build post.

RE: Building a Bonanza

You are absolutely right. When I got home last night I checked the photos I was using for reference and it is definitely not flush. Mostly mushroom head rivets. The year of manufacture seems to...

RE: Building a Bonanza

Wood chisel? I was thinking Exacto chisel! You have more control than you thought! Glad it worked out. Kim talks of running the Moki in reminds me; a reason my V35 is on hold is my engine. I...

RE: Building a Bonanza

I have had good success removing unwanted surface irregularity using an Exacto Chisel blade with care, bevel side down of course.

RE: Building a Bonanza

No worries. It's Keith. At least you are doing your riveting! I have been on hiatus on my V tail for months now.

RE: Building a Bonanza

I guess it depends on your intention. If it is to practice scaling rivets then leave them. If it to be closest to scale then, yes, afraid so. There are a few techniques for doing flush rivets to...

RE: Building a Bonanza

Sure does look like a lot of work which makes me a bit hesitant to say this but the pics I have show the aircraft to be flush riveted, no?

RE: Building a Bonanza

I installed as per the plans but I drilled (with copper tube) holes for the rear mounting screws because as you noted there was no way to get at them otherwise.
