We have all seen multi color paint jobs with sharp edges between the colors and absolutley no ridge. How in the heck do they do that???

I remember reading somewhere that a better indicator of the fliability of an aircraft is the volumn (cube???) rather than the square (area???) of the wing. It has been so long since I read about it...
