I didn't get the marking wrong on the 4in1 Wheelnut and anyway the connections where exactly as shown in the Esky manual. That was why it didn't even cross my mind that I had made a mistake. ...

Eureka your right!!! I've swapped over the motor leads and switched the position of the RUDder reverser switch on the Tx and I am back to normal , and with the original 4in1 as well. Thanks so much....

After a pretty dodgy start with my Lama 3, reading this thread (and spending a pile on spares!) helped me get to the stage where I thought I was pretty expert both at flying AND problem solving. But...
