RE: sails and sailmaking question

Hello Mike? I am still interested in your idea, and it may help some others out, too. Have you done anything more with the airfoil idea?

RE: Would this work?

All depends on how big you make the hulls. There are some small motors out there you could easily drop in the back end of a hull with a prop sticking out so it doesn't drag when you get moving. I'd...

RE: New Captain

A Spectrum radio on 2.4 ghz is fine for sailing and you'll only need two or three channels. The only thing to watch is to get the rx up under the deck and some carbon fiber hulls may interfere with...

RE: 7' tall Sailboat

I doubt that you would get a satisfactory result. The hull has probably already been filled/puttied/ stained. From the look of it, it's afairly
old build, and it would probably devalue the worth,...

RE: AC class boats!

Camie, you have to use the whole tag- 1967250s - to find my posts, or you could just put in AC boat, or newport 12.

RE: AC class boats!

Hi Camie, those are great looking boats! The J sounds interesting, too. I've been thinking about building a wood J boat, just have to decide which one! Not that I have the space, either, LOL. Maybe...

RE: AC class boats!

My boat looks an awful lot like the Sterne boat, including the mast and boom, but I don't have the cut away deck. Pray tell what are the dimensions? Oh, and all the boats look great! I'm jealous that...

RE: Sailboat; 6'+ Hull Length?

For a large, 6' +, you should go with a J class, well over 6'. Newport 12 are 6' long exactly, but they're fiberglass and kind of hard to find, though there is a new manufacturer, kinda tough to get...

RE: a little dressing up?

check out Vinces Newport 12 build here in sailbpats, pics of different decks. Careful with weight though, sailboats like weight down deep not above deck.

RE: Name that boat...

GRAB IT! You may need to replace the rudder and tube and get a new radio, but it will give you lots of relaxation, hopefully , and is worth a bit of work. I'd grab it and I have 5 boats already!

Boy, what a subject! I've read some about this in the AMYA magazine. To deploy a spinnaker is an involved deal. First, one has to decide where the sail will be stored, above and below deck is...
