The DH copter will not take the voltage increase for long, if it works at all. Thehttp://www.killbuckets.com/copters.htm controllers in these are known for cooking at stock voltage, sorry.

I'm used to gyro holding a heading. Do these also hold the heli from moving up-down, and side-side, front-back?

I've been intrigued by the flybarless helis, but have noticed something (I think) in most of the flight vids: they seem to lock into hover quite well, almost to the point of resisting any directional...
