RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

jwmav528, thanks for posting the pics. The plane has really changed, and it looks like for the better. I like the longer top hatch and how it goes all the way to the firewall. I'm flying a venerable...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Tower is now listing the Phoenix Extra 330 as "discontinued". That's a bummer. Still enjoying mine, now on season three.

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

That's very slick... Wish that such things were available for purchase.

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

You could bend a short piece of brass tubing of the correct diameter that would slip around the muffler outlet pipe. Once it's shaped to exit correctly, drill a couple of holes for two small...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Ameyam,

If you have the 120 sitting there on the bench, go for it. I got around the cowl screw problem by reinforcing the holes. I drilled them, tapped them, then wicked in some epoxy. Let it...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Ameyam,

It should be; what's your field's elevation above sea level? I've flown the OS 95ax on the much heavier Seagull Extra 260, and it flies very nicely, but doesn't 3D. Then again, it's a...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Ameyam,

It just depends on how you plan to fly your plane, and how long you want to have it around. If you really want max performance regardless of what happens to the airframe, then use the...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

nolefan, I had a Fox glow plug with idle bar, and the engine ran fine, but it runs even better with the OS #8. It's silky smooth, with beautiful transition, better fuel economy, and a very slow,...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

I had major problems with stuff falling off my bird, so I got the Du-Bro anti-vibe mount. I like it; had to move the batt back to compensate, but the plane flies great. I haven't dropped a canopy or...

RE: Phoenix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

The nose pitch after engine cut will depend on how you have your CG set; tail heavy will give you nose-up as throttle is cut, while slight nose heavy will give you nose down. I've got mine set a hair...

RE: Phoenix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Good choice there Wild Bill; that Maggie 1.08 will haul that thing around easily. You'll have a hot rod on your hands.

RE: Phoenix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Do you mean an OS .61 four stroke, or a two-stroke engine? A .61 two stroke is adequate for sport flying, but you'll need a bigger four stroker for this bird.

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

A clanky or raspy buzz at full throttle might be fiberglass parts rattling, the cowl, or the canopy. Mine initially had buzzy wheelpants and a bit of buzz from the fiberglass cowl. I used short...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Good job getting it up and back. The trick with these aerobats is to fly it in nose high with some throttle. Practice doing low passes with throttle control: back off the throttle on your downwind...

RE: Phoenix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

I've had this plane for two years now and love it. Except for one thing: it had a really bad resonance/vibration issue with the GMS .76 engine. The motor runs great; load of power, starts every time,...

RE: Phoenix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Your 75 AX should be fine; I'm flying one of these excellent airplanes with a GMS .76 and Bisson pitts muffler turning an APC 14 x 5 narrow pattern prop; perfect speed envelope, plenty of power for...
