RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

Gary, on the second picture of post 295, when gear is deployed (lowered), the threaded rod extends pretty far back. Would that interfere with the main spar?

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

Barry (u2fast) and a couple of friends maidened mine this afternoon. Everything went smoothly (Barry made it look easy). 3W157TS for power, plug-in wing. With a full cockpit and air-operated sliding...

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

Free of charge for landing gear modification. You do have to send your gear to Darrel at your cost.

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

Those are the things Darrel did for me:

1. Pictures 1 and 2. Darrel welded the brackets that hold the end of the cylinders.

2. Picture 3. Darrel made my cylinder have a longer stroke. By...

My landing gear is the very early version. So, after talking to Darrel, I sent my gear back, he made the modification the next day, and ship them right back to me. It was a very fast turn-around and...

On the top side of the wing center section, there is a panel line exactly above the front edge of the spar. This panel line stays above the front edge of the spar all the way to the wing root. I...

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

That seems like a lot of nose weight. Mine is a plug-in wing version. I use a 3W 157 engine. I balanced mine with 4.75 lb of lead.

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

Thanks Paul.

I will call Ray Labonte tomorrow. This looks like a defective design. I hope Comp ARF and Sierra stand behind their products.

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread

Hi Paul,

This raises my concern. I thought you fixed the gear issue by making the knuckels have a "over the center" travel. Does your gear still collapse with that fix?

Thanks.
