RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

2200kv is fine, but is really the maximum KV to use.. personally I would go with a lower KV, especially for winter use...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Hi James,

Don't despair just yet ;)

There is an awful lot of data, opinions, information etc on this long thread (and indeed all the rest of RCuniverse/RCgroups!), and it is almost...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

HI James,
Could be one of a (small) number of things:
- Most likely and best outcome for you would be just that you need to calibrate the ESC to the receiver - i.e. the throttle end points. I...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Well, not just user error - the stock Tamiya dogbones are weak, and the normal setup for the Dual Hunter has quite a lot of travel - as you would expect and need for a MT - and the geometry is such...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

No idea, but I would not assume so without getting a measurement...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Ha ha - funny vids :-)

Don't give up on the TD/DH gearboxes just yet. They are very strong gearboxes, and quite low geared which will help you with big wheels. The dogbone problem mainly comes...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

The universals (swing shafts) are generally better, and perfectly strong enough for the HBX MT or buggy. On the Twin Det/Dual Hunter they will still break at the front because of the short gearing...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Pretty sure it was the Hobao T145 rear dogbones. You should check the dimensions though...
I found that they fit fine if I removed the little O-ring from one of the drive cups.

Failing...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Hey that's a great looking car wall! This summer I will be getting a garage again - I had to knock the last one down to extend the house but we finally have planning permission (and funds) to...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Had the Baja Champ for quite a while - I bought a couple off eBay to use as donor vehicles when I was making the 6x6 Bonzer but one was in such good condition I couldn't bring myself to break it up...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Ha ha... But everything gets pwned eventually...

My E-Revo also likes to dominate the HBXs...

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread

Well I bought both sets... With the Traxxas rear sways not only do you need to drill holes in the rockers, but also they hang over the back of the truck in a vulnerable position, so that even if you...

RE: RC helicopter gyro as drift control system on E Firestorm

Yes, though be aware that some head-lock gyros can only work in head-lock mode - so you need to confirm that whichever one you are thinking about getting, it can be set to work in rate mode too, like...

RE: RC helicopter gyro as drift control system on E Firestorm

You do need to use a gyro in RATE (normal) mode, rather than head-lock mode, and that newer EK2-0704B gyro can be set in either mode using the third channel. According to the manual: "you can choose...

RE: 14.4V Tamiya Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator WOW!

Fair enough, up to you of course. As I said, I just covered the hole with black insulating tape (obviously making sure the surfaces were clean and dry at the time I applied the tape!) and did not...

RE: 14.4V Tamiya Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator WOW!

Or MUCH easier is just to drill a little hole on the far side of the gearbox. As the shafts are just about 1mm too long to fit inside, you can even cover the hole with electrical tape, as the shaft...

RE: 14.4V Tamiya Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator WOW!

Yes, the Titans are 550s and run on 14.8v +, so no good unless you have an EVX2 and two battery packs mounted. Like many people, I did haver that setup for quite a while, but both my TDs have ended...

RE: 14.4V Tamiya Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator WOW!

Yes, you will be putting a lot more wear on any motor with timing >0 if you spin it the wrong way. I have done this in the past as I didn't really believe it, and the reversed motor got hotter, and...

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

I always used Tamiya or Traxxas white grease that came with trucks and rebuild kits... but I am sure any brand would do.

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Wow - real detail work then!
You could go to a 3 or 4 channel setup and put in moving gun turrets, too!

RE: HBX, Who else owns one??

Yes, bearings and shocks are definitely two of the three best upgrades to do to this truck.
