RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

A bag of bamboo bbq skewers is much cheaper and works just as well. I used bamboo for a good number of repairs when I first learned to fly, mainly because I found them lying around the house, but...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I took my SC out yesterday in some really strong winds. Luckily I just obtained my wings the day before at one of the local clubs, so I have a proper field to tool around in in this kind of windy...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

If you reinforce the wing with carbon strips or small carbon rod, you could remove the struts entirely. I may do that on a future SC project. I'll call it the Super "DUPER" Cub.:D

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I know there's stuff copied in China, and that it's different than MADE IN CHINA. However, a lot of times the higher end US market will take a Chinese knock-off and have it re-branded.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Take a look at page 308 of this thread. I've got the pics of my box setup, but I reused the stock landing gear plastic mount inside my box. If I have time, I should be able to make up a usable...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

My battery box is modified but not to fit bigger packs. I've completely replaced the plastic box with a light ply setup. I fly on the small 1300 3s Zippy Flightmax packs. I get around 8 or 9...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Your plane should definitely be setup to the balancing point suggested by the manufacturer. That is where the plane will fly at its best. Trim is fine to a certain extent but your control surfaces...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Basic rule of thumb is that it is better for it to be nose heavy than tail heavy. A tail heavy plane is very difficult to fly, and can be very twitchy.

Your plane's manufacturer will have specs...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I'm a huge HobbyKing fan. There's no way I could be flying any of my bigger planes if I didn't have the great prices from HC. I went shopping for an 80A ESC for a new plane I'm getting and the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Everything was in stock and paid for, it's just sitting in processing. Usually as soon as I e-mail them they get right on it.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Is anyone finding the processing at Hobby City a little slow lately? The last couple times I've ordered I've had my orders in processing for 4 or 5 days before I'm e-mailed them and they shipped out...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I hear you on that front! I've snapped over the silliest of things lately. Going out to fly certainly puts me in a better mood, though. I flew the SC and my Corsair yesterday. 3 flights on the SC...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Easy, guys. All of you. You both made good efforts to help. Seriously, let's not argue or slam each other over who helped better!:D lol. Funniest argument I've seen yet!

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

They look cool, don't they?:D I'll probably take my PZ Corsair out today if I find the time. They really do fly nice.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Well, we've been waiting a long time for the good weather to come! I've been flying in the cold, and wind and snow for months. It was a treat to fly with no coat on, and the lack of wind was the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I took my cub out for 6 flights today, after ditching my Acro Master hard enough to bend a motor shaft. Then I proceeded to damage the can trying to replace the bent shaft! SUCKS, as the motor was...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

They've fixed that issue. There's one screw that pokes through the back of the firewall, and if you nose it in or jar it enough for the pack to slide further into the battery slot, you can damage...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I forget what the radio looks like now, as I'm using my DX7 with my Super Cub. I know the rudder and elevator have trim switches. Does the throttle slider not have a trim switch too?

Could...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

It flies really nice and looks pretty cool too. I have one, but I don't fly it all that much anymore. It does motor around nice, and makes an excellent aileron trainer if you haven't flown with...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

The T28 is nice, as is the Corsair. They're probably the best bang for the buck to get you into ailerons and a little better performance. I've got the Corsair and it flies quite well for basic...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I took my SC out for a couple packs today on the 8x4 prop. It still gets around pretty darn good, even on that tiny little prop. Loops are super easy, rolls aren't too bad either. Not bad...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

No, I removed the plastic firewall and replaced it with some 3/32" birch ply. I just glued it directly to the foam using thick CA. I did use the original plastic piece to measure the correct side...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I guess I never posted the pictures of my SC outrunner setup. The motor is a Turnigy 35-30 outrunner, 1100kv, with a 25A Turnigy Plush ESC. The mount is an HXT aluminum mount that I've modified and...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I flew my super cub today with the same motor that you've got in yours, Itzobi. I actually like flying mine with an 8x6, although I did snap mine off the other day. I flew today with the 9x5 and it...
