RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

PKa, I just had my first good trimming day last weekend for my replacement Phoenix Extra. It was raining on and off and calm. I was not snapping out of loops, but my new build sure was "wonky" at...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

PKa:
You are not the first to have these problems....there are many possibilities.
How heavy is your plane? What elevator throw? If you have a heavy enough plane, and enough elevator throw, it...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Wrangler1- your march post...
I had the same problem until I started using 10-15mm of spoilerons (both ailerons up, or negative flaperons) on a switch for landing. That keeps it from having that...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Hey Wrangler 1, just reading your post now, sorry about the delayed response. If you can find a metric nylon bolt to match the thread in the wing's blind nut, which is an M6 x 1.25mm pitch when I...

Billiefly;
Yep, I'd guess those wingtip fences postpone stall quite well... good trick. Thanks for sharing that idea with photos. You posted that a few months ago, right?
I may have to try...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

PS, Wrangler, if that's your first covering job- you are a natural. It is a tough skill to master, especially on light (flimsy) structures like the belly of this bad boy. You pull too hard here, it...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

I think that it is good for the environment to use the remaining scraps you have for repairs......even if it DOES look a little more Rusky now!

On to suggestions: As far as Billiefly's...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Ameyam, another idea for you.
I just had one of the nuts in the wing fall out and had to drill a hole per rickstubbz instructions in 2009.
attached picture will show what I did. I made the hole...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Ameya, it appears from the video, that you have the original version of the kit, where the removeable canopy ends at the front of the wing. On many of those, the aluminum wing tube is a little too...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Ameyam, if the wing is bolted to the fuse sides as when it was new, and the wing still can shift, I would suggest that you take the wing off and see if the tube can move relative to the fuselage,...

RE: Byron Original

Yeah, I had picked that up somewhere, that smoke oil is bad for the FOAM, but the Econokote must have protected your Dad's Cap's foam. I resisted the urge to add smoke because of this, but a Pitts...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

Wrangler1:
Your gear isn't the problem- the wood is failing from what I see. That has two factors: the wooden box strength, and the loads of a hard landing. Plastic, CF and fiberglass gear...

RE: Byron Pitts

No need to go to gasoline.... I get 1.5 oz per minute or so flying pretty hard with a SuperTigre 3250 and a Zinger 22x8 post-breakin prop.
Sounds nice,...

RE: ST2300 Testing and Experimenting

Well, the 3250 didn't get much help from all those fixes I posted 4/30, but I did get a strong suggestion to sleeve the carb on another forum. I picked up a 3/8" barbed brass fitting for PEX tubing...

RE: Super Tigre G3250 issue

12mm sounds like the most common carb for the Big Cats (ST 2300 &up) which all sport a 12mm airflow bore. No first hand knowledge on this for the 2300 as I only have the 3250. But my experience...

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

THAT looks like a 4 stroke muffler extension that may actually just stay on, Wrangler!
One neat advantage of brass is that its thermal expansion is closer to aluminum than, for example steel.

RE: ST2300 Testing and Experimenting

Once...
