This is the one I use and it's good for all batteries even lipos. Also very appealing price. Haven't had any problems with it at all. Have not charged Lipos on it though.

That sound to me like a safety feature with your car. Don't know what actually causes it if it's the ESC or whatever. I do know my RC18 does it too. It's so you don't burn up your gears. It's a delay...
