I have used epoxy with denatured alcohol to cover foam wings and other foam parts of planes. I really don't think it will hurt to plug the holes in the gearbox with styrofoam.

I haven't tried this on a flat bottom wing. Someone mentioned AIRCORE did this. Are AIRCORE wings flat bottomed or sym. But anyway, you would have to put the yard stick inside the wing before gluing...

You might check out post "My 2 Cents". This method is not as fast as "flashing/ca'ing. But for me, its faster then the "goop".

Sym. Wing Building Tip

Here is a tip for inserting the yardstick into a sym. wing. No gluing of the yardstick is needed. Attached is a drawing of the steps.

A wing built using a router(for folding the wing sheet) and using the balsa inserts(for gluing together).
