RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

Rollout is not per motor mfg. It is the distance the car will travel per 1 revolution of the motor. This is dependent on the size of the tire and the FDR, neither of which the motor mfg has control...

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

That doesn't take into account battery voltage or motor kV.

Where'd the 1 inch come from anyway? From what Iunderstand, rollout is more for on-road cars.

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

Not only that, but how do you compare a gear ratio, which is unitless, to a length in inches?

Sticky is saying you should try to get your FDR equal to your circumference in inches.

I don't know...

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

Missed your reply in my e-mails.

LOL, maybe Ishould re-word it.
Did you read the sticky?

Quoted:

When selecting the spur gear and pinion gear size, you need to
understand that there is a...

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

You missed the point. The mm example was presented to show the absurdity of the sticky. It's also known as reductio ad absurdum. Come on, dude. Simply because you're incapable of getting that doesn't...

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

This isn't so much gearing, it's mathematics.

Mathematically, the motor is spinning 1 times the FDR for every 1 revolution of the tire. Brushed or brushless. Fact.

Inches are not the universal...

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

So it's only for us Americans. Got it.

My example was to show the absurdity. What do inches have to do with the FDR? Nowhere in the sticky did it say you use inches as the reference. If it's...

RE: Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

6 year old post or not, it's awful. Question #1 is the one that just bugs me for some reason.

So I have a 125mm tire on my truck. Multiplying by pi gives me 393, so that's my roll-out. I am...

Can we remove the gear selection sticky?

Why is the Understanding gear selections for 1/10 Electric RC a sticky? It is filled with incorrect information. There is virtually nothing relevant in it.

Can a mod remove it?</p>

RE: 3S VXL Rustler help

Realize that when going to 3S you will draw less current, so 4000 isn't that bad. If you use 5000 on 2S then you don't need 5000 on 3S.

RE: charger question

The charger doesn't stop when it hits 3700 mAh capacity. It stops at voltage. What you're probably thinking of is the charge current which is in mA not mAh.

Also, from what I found your charger...

RE: Gear ratio help

You have 3 shafts:

pinion
spur
input shaft to transmission

Since the 18 and 40 are on different planes the only way 1 gear would contact both pinion and input gear is to have 1 really thick...

RE: Gear ratio help

Changing them out is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the physical distance between the shafts. You can't move them. Plus, the gears are not on the same plane. 15 and 40 are on one...

RE: Gear ratio help

How do you move the 40t shaft?Isn't it fixed? The only shaft that is moveable (if I'm looking at it correctly) is the pinion.

RE: losi 1/10 high roller upgrade

The metal diff gear is LOSB3593. The steel idler gear from Robinson Racing is RRP9227. Or you could get all the gears in steel (replacing the brass input shaft gear as well) from here:

RE: losi 1/10 high roller upgrade

The cups are fine so far. I upgraded to the cvds since my axles bent (apparantly the early run had defective axles).

I think the alum idler gear wore out faster than usual because I had my slipper...

RE: losi 1/10 high roller upgrade

It's the same tranny as the Strike, so 2 metal gears and you're good to go. Mine has held up well to 8.5T since Ireplaced the alum idler upgrade with metal one.

Losi also make a ball diff and cvds.

RE: Gear ratio help

That link makes no sense of rollout. He is basing it on 1:1 of gear ratio to circumference in inches. What if you measure in metric system? Then what?

Rollout is just a number to show distance...

RE: Lipo question

To answer your question, no, just because your pack has a balance tap on it you don't need to balance charge it. The pack and charger could care less if it's hooked up or not.

However, as others...

RE: losi 1/10 high roller upgrade

Cheapest would be 35A hobbywing but I wouldn't go that small. I put in 60 hobbywing system and it has abundant power. The EZRun 60 A 8.5T at hobbypartz (if they ever get it back in stock) will cost...

RE: Gear ratio help

So based on those pics and if the gears on spur are as I mentioned it would be (40*28*37)/(15*18*19) for FDR of 8.08.

So gearbox ratio is 1.95, spur to pinion ratio is 4.14. If your tires are...

RE: Gear ratio help

Your description is a little confusing. When you say 15 is attached to 40, I'm sure that's not what you mean. You probably mean the 15 is driving the 40, yes? And the 40 has 18 on the same shaft...
