RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

I cut mine almost flush & applied a drop of cyno to one side. It has not moved & if I need to remove it, I am sure a little tap will loosen it.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

I also used a short 4mm tube from each of the cylinder nipples, then fitted a festo 4mm to 3mm reducer.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

I had only one medium size air tank for the gear & doors & got the same drop in pressure as you, when I switched on the radio. I think the reason was, the lines & all the cylinders get pressurised...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

I have about 3/16ths of an inch of crow. I remembered reading back in the thread, that Dave said he thought that amount would make slow landings even better. In a light breeze, I have landed at...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Flew the Hawk about six times again yesterday, this time at the shorter club site. There was a bit of crosswind & a little gusty. Landed better with less flap.
Having removed an ounce from the...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Hi Pat. I have the sport gear with the large cylinders. Even then, it is essential to get the gear up at as low an airspeed as possible. The doors attached to the oleos act against the gear...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Thanks Mario. That little bit of crow makes it easy to land.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Maidened my Hawk today & it went well. I balanced it at 190mm, but it feels noseheavy & needs a lot of down elevator when inverted. I had four ounces of lead in the nose, so tonight I have removed...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Just finishing the Hawk. It took a while to build, but was nice to put together. Comp ARF gave me their cockpit kit for free as part of the combo deal. It was a large plastic bag full of white ABS...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Hi Dave. Think I will make up an extension to the flap servo box, so the servo is more in line.
I have the same as Trev, the Black one. I have the decals from taylor made. I am enjoying the...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Fitting out the wing. I notice the position of the flap servo does not line up with the hole through the spar & also the horn in the flap is not in a good position. All the things I am seeing with...

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Problem is solved. The hinge rod is in fact just a piece of oxy/acet welding rod cut to length.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

My gear came with the large cylinders a couple of weeks ago.

No rudder hinge rod in box. E-mailed Melanie to send one.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Hi Dave, Yes, the rudder servo access on the fin root. Maybe it was an early version. No problem, easy to cut out. I will search for the rudder fixing rod.

Cheers
Jim

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Received my Hawk & very nice it looks to. Removed the paper tape supporting the rudder to the fin & they fell apart. According to the instructions, the rudder is supposed to be hinged at the...
