Andy,

The swashplate is the plates with two linkages from the bottom and two that atttach to the lower blades. This should be nice and level and all the linkages tight( no slop) when stationary....

Ihave a wide range of such products and the inner shaft did get a coating, and everything is turning freely when on the bench, but run times are down and ESC and motors are hot, so Isuspect...

Check that he has brought the throttle trim down to zero. Often people leave it in the central position like the rest and then the Transmitter will not bind
