RE: Aerial Video

Thanks. I'm guessing that spending time on RC Universe looking at other people's videos has "wasted" a lot more than 1.5 minutes of your "life". Writing that comment is as asinine as me criticizing...

RE: Slow Stick X Bush Plane!

Thanks subz. I used the green transparent covering by bp hobbies called solite for the wing and stabs. The ailerons, rudder and elevator were covered with ultracote black carbon fiber. The tires...

Slow Stick X Bush Plane!

Just got done with my first kit build. I decided to add a gopro to my SSX build and some tundra tires for some off runway flying. It's time to go bush flying!

RE: Piper Super Cub is Flying!

Thanks Gray Beard! My wife did the camera work but she'd like a zoom lens to make it better. Check out my you tube channel, I just uploaded a video of my nephews gopro camera on my super cub for...

RE: Piper Super Cub is Flying!

Sherman, that sounds like a good idea. I'll go back to this post if I can't get used to the knob. I like the idea of having a switch instead of the knob though. I also like using the rudder...

RE: Piper Super Cub is Flying!

Thanks Biker! That's the bad thing about buying a used plane. The person I bought it from said he bought the floats from a friend of his and didn't know who the maker was. I can tell you that they...

RE: Piper Super Cub is Flying!

I got to fly for about 30 minutes after work today. Flap-Elev mixing works great, no more "ballooning". I only tried the flaps at altitude but still getting used to taking my hand off the controls...

RE: Piper Super Cub is Flying!

Bikerbc, thanks! Yeah, it wasn't ballooning in the video because I didn't use the flaps for that landing. I tried them at altitude just to see what it would do. Since the nose came up with the...

Piper Super Cub is Flying!

Thanks to all that helped me with the comments on installing a water rudder and new motor. Having just moved into a quarter scale gas from a nitro plane was a big step. With the help of my LHS and...

RE: Rudder Servo

John, yeah splicing turned out to be a bad idea because the joint diameter was too large to fit in the casing. I thought about just curving it not at the strut but to where the length would work...

RE: Rudder Servo

Thanks wayne, I agree. I decided to go with the hitec servo in the float. My glow float plane has the pull pull cables and they have never failed me. I didn't see a way to route them on this plane...

RE: Engine mount repair

I guess I'm going to try the dowel idea. They should have the hard wood dowels at the local hobby shop right?

RE: Engine mount repair

What minute epoxy should I use, 30 minute? Also, how can I tell if the dowel is "hard wood"? Sorry, I'm new at this. Thanks!

Engine mount repair

I have a 1/4 scale piper super cub. The motor has to be replaced and they do not make the SV 26cc anymore so I opted to replace with a different 26cc gasser. My problem is that the new motor is...

RE: Rudder Servo

Thanks for all the tips. John, I tried using your method but I need about 60" to get from the air rudder to the water rudder with the same routing you have on yours. I could only find a 48"...

Rudder Servo

I recently bought a 1/4 scale super cub on floats and have a few questions about setting up a float rudder. I bought the stainless steel kit from hangar 9 and have mounted it to the left float. I'm...

RE: SV 26cc replacement prop hub

Thanks for all the helpful tips. Luckily, I found someone locally that is selling their old sv for parts yesterday. Thanks again!

SV 26cc replacement prop hub

The bolt holes are stripped on the prop hub for my SV 26cc. Does anyone know if there is a replacement part from a different engine that will work? The manufacturer doesn't carry a replacement prop...

RE: SV 26cc please help

Oh cool! Did your SV come with the nut or was it like mine? I bought the plane used so I'm not sure if he's modified it in any way.

RE: SV 26cc please help

I see your point. I'll check harbor freight tomorrow. Thanks for the info. I was just looking at the zenoah 26cc and it looks like they use the prop nut and washer as well instead of the four...

RE: SV 26cc please help

Rich,
That sounds like a good idea and would be a quick fix. A nut seems better than those cheesy little bolts, in my opinion. Where's a good place to get a die kit or do you have a...

RE: SV 26cc please help

Okay, if I have to replace the hub, is there a special socket for it because my standard deep well socket from my tool kit isn't long enough. I think I'll watch a youtube video on prop balancing...
