I 100% agree with RTK. There is nothing at all to prevent the cooling air from whistling by the carb and out the back with very little air cooling the cylinders. You are definitely on the right track...

RTK thanks for the complement and your setup does look good. Pe feel free to use the photos that I posted on your web site. Albatross that looks very effective.

Here is an example that works fine for me with a Brison 6.4 twin in an Extra 300S. Note how the light weight aluminum directs the cooling air down the back side of the cylinder.
