lightning is a pretty noisy thing (electrically speaking) and probably effects most of the common frequency bands used in communication systems.

i dont think putting your flag by the thinger to signify that you are waiting is part of the protocol at the field. i know it is at some fields, but i think the basin is just a "find the guy" type...
