RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds

Huh, imagine that. I always thought it was a fan like the FW-190; even the "blades" looked like they have pitch on them.
Thanks for the correction guys.
Now that you all have stated so, I see in a...

RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds

The Sierra/Lado setup is definitely not cheap; a little over my budget. I will probably will wait for the ESM Ver 3 retracts also.
I just ordered the same spinner from Gene Barton. He says it is...

RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds

Hey Joe,

Exactly what issues did you run into with the ESM retracts? I read through your build but I didn't see anything on those.
I picked up a NIB LA-7 for $300 this week and I was planning...

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)

Here's my Seagull Models (E-Scale) Seafire that I electrified. It's a .90 size with a 64.6" wingspan weighing in at 11lbs.
It is powered by an E-Flite Power 90, CC Phoenix ICE 75AMP ESC, and 8S...

RE: Shipping problems

Unfortunately, the packages these models come in are over USPS's size restrictions for international shipping, that's why US dealers can/will only ship courier.

RE: Shipping problems

Interesting....
This sounds much like what happened to another model hobby; the real scale locomotive manufacturers were asking for outlandish licencing fees that it almost sank the model railroad...

RE: Shipping problems

Daniel,
I definitely feel your pain on this one.
Last year I wanted to buy the ESM 73" Hawker Typhoon and 80" Hurricane from VQ Models out of Texas and ran into the same issues with shipping...

RE: Seagull NEW Supermarine Spitfire AKA Seafire!

You are going to have to add weight to the nose.
I figure a .91 size engine weighs anywhere from 20- 23 oz? The Power 90 with ESC weighs in approximately 19 - 20 oz.and the batteries weighing...

RE: NEW Seagull Dewoitine ARF ?

I would also agree that the DLE 20would be a good fit for this model.
I had been flying this model since last year using electric power ( a Power 90, CC ICE 100A ESC, using 8S lipos.) Ideally, I...

RE: Seagull NEW Supermarine Spitfire AKA Seafire!

Yes, flimsy retracts. 2 major problems with this particular set:
1. Even though the brackets are metal, the trunions inside are plastic and prone to cracking.
2. These have spring suspension...

RE: Seagull NEW Supermarine Spitfire AKA Seafire!

I purchased this model from a hobby shop in the UK (unfortunately, it is not currently available in North America.)
I eletrified my version using a Power 90, a CC ICE 75A ESC, 8S 5000mAh lipos,...

RE: another German oddity...(pic)

Looks like an early Messerschmitt BF-109 C-1.
From the sharks mouth it may be from 2, Staffel/JG 71 around 1939.

RE: YT KMP Hawker Typhoon

Glenn,

Great write up on your Typhoon and I'm glad to hear it flies extremely well. I was a little worried myself how this model would fly at such a weight.

I purchased one , the all composite...

RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds

I was told it was the cost incurred to bring them into Canada. KMP is located in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

RE: Has TBM really stopped importing ESM warbirds?

That is awesome news for us Canadians! Ordering these large warbirds from dealers in the US is cost prohibitive at best. Shipping is as much as the kits themselves.
I was so excited to hear this...
