It the wires got hot it means the current was too...

It the wires got hot it means the current was too much, it also explains the ESC getting hot.

Without knowing the exact specifications of the motor and ESC I am guessing 8.4 Volts from the Lipo...

When you say things got Hot, do you mean the Battery got hot or the Motor and ESC?

Any chance of a photo of the Motor / ESC with specifications visible if possible.
