I have a vapor, and you need a pretty big basement to fly it : )  I have flown it in slight wind before, and it's not impossible to control.

And indoor planes need a large space to fly :(. If you have an old rc electric rc airplane you may be able to waterproof it by sticking a baloon around the esc, but it needs a VERY powerful motor to...

It just depends on the battery. This winter my lipo broke from not being used. However, if you give your battery a full charge and stick it in the freezer the discharge rate will slow dramatically....
