You can supply the Voltage from a external regulator or transformer but you will lose current output.

Take the esc off the chasis, disconnect it from the motor. ... With a small screwdriver pry the bottom part off to open the ESC case. Push the heatsink down so you pull both the top and bottom peices...

With stock gearing the Engine was getting a bit warm so i got a 20 and 21T pinion to go with the stock 87t...
