RE: Club FOX!

Tartan had nothing to do with Fox. The Tartan engines were imported by IndyRC some years ago.

I believe there are some fellas who freqent this forum who have some experience with those...

RE: Club FOX!

Don't throw it away....send it to me!

First off...the need to open the LS needle excessively says that there's either a restriction (pinch) in the fuel line, or...an air leak which is limiting...

RE: Club FOX!

RHarding...

Keep an eye on the internet auctions for the parts you need. Also, I'd double check with Fox regarding those parts. Ask for Randy. The front desk girls only know what's on the...

RE: Club FOX!

I never heard the one about factory rejects being sold to the public, but if it's so....Fox kinda brought that one on themselves. Those things should have been smacked with a hammer, and made...

RE: Club FOX!

Check the flitelinesolutions.com website. There's a lot of info on there, and George might speak about that engine..I don't know.

Good chance however, that the port timing is cut different on...

RE: Club FOX!

Fox needs to get rid of those ridiculous "retail" price lists. NOBODY pays that kind of loot for anything, and as much as I like Fox...you're gonna need a heckuva lot more than a .74 to pry $250...

RE: Club FOX!

<GGGG>

I remember a guy in our club (waaaay up north) that had one in a Johnny Casburn "Lucky Fly" back in the late 70's.

(Our club had like 5 people, so it's real easy to remember who had...

RE: Club FOX!

I'd agree with the $100 (or so) price on a .74. That's a good engine.

RE: Club FOX!

I had one of those evil things (Peace Pipe) in the late 70's it seems. Our club then had no muffler rule, and to most of the guys there at the time...mufflers were a "fad". <GGGG>

Yeah. ...

RE: Club FOX!

The old bushing .29 would do best on a high castor fuel. 50/50 castor synth (ie: Sig Champion) would be about the minimum AFAIC.

These engines don't need much nitro...5 or 10%...

RE: Club FOX!

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Fox factory in Ft. Smith.

To actually meet the people, and see the effort they put into their work was remarkable. When you buy a Fox, you're...

RE: Club FOX!

Typhoon...how much prop are you using on those old .45's? The older vintage "B" frame .40's and .45's were arguably VERY overcarbureted using a carb bore similar to that of the .60 size engines. ...

RE: Club FOX!

I'd go along with that Sport. My Foxes back in the 70's had to go through a "grind in" process it seemed before you could even worry about "break in". <GGG> Those poor things would belch...

RE: Club FOX!

Cool stories all.

My trusty old .40BB finally lunched a connecting rod after 14yrs. It'd been clattering a bit for a year and a half but running strong. Then the fateful day arrived...it...

I love the Skylark. Classic model, and I only regret the GB doesn't offer it as a kit. I don't do ARF's, but I digress...

Several GB designs paid scant attention to fuel...

Pressure taps USUALLY work best when they're place at the widest point of the muffler. Just like 99% of the mufflers on the market...including Foxes.

Header tapping might...

RE: Club FOX!

That little .15BB is a sweetheart of a motor isn't it? Kinda blocky looking, but rugged as the day is long and they run great.

Another completely ignored little jewel of a motor is the .25BB. ...

RE: Club FOX!

What kind of problems are you having with the Quickee motor that makes you think the tank is too low?

Best solution is "raise the tank". These motors don't need pumps to run.

RE: Club FOX!

The butterfly valve on the exhaust was used as a means of retaining heat at idle so the motor would run better. It was a pretty common item on r/c motors in the days before people started...

Open those needles a bit and run some fuel through the carb to flush it out. If it...
