RE: Getting back into flying

Welcome back! I'm also trying to get back into flying after a few years out. Trying to decide what upgrades to make and rx batteries are on the list.

RE: Does anyone know David swantz

Sorry, just don't think rape jokes are either funny or in good taste, regardless of the circumstances. I think that's the first time I've ever been flamed on RCU; who would have thought it would be...

RE: Does anyone know David swantz

I agree with what "Flame-out" (whom I also know) says. Dave does seem to have a dual personality. He was always incredibly generous to me, re-building a wing for me at no charge and helping me out...

RE: Great planes cub fuel tank setup

I put a fuel dot on top in front of the windshield, right where the fuel cap/guage would be on the real one.

RE: Minnesota Frozen Float Fly (Part 2)

You're a moderator, Mike. Am I allowed to say "bite me" as long as I do so without malice?;)

RE: Hello from the twin cities, minnesota

Welcome, Erik! I am also a TCRC member like Curtis and Jon. (Once we get Andrew to move further south we'll get him too!) Second everything they said, we'd love to have you fly with us some time. ...

RE: Great Plane's J-3 Piper Cub - 60. Good first kit?

I know Bax works for GP, but I have to agree with him. The GP .60 Cub is a floater and flies very scale-like (but can also be flown way beyond scale). I know, because I have a GP Cub and my...

RE: DAVID SHAWNTZ. ANYBODY SEEN HIM?

I agree with John. Dave is a good guy and a master craftsman. He just rebuilt a wing for me. I haven't gone to pick it up from him yet, but I'm sure it will be perfect.

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

It hasn't been an annual event. We talked about doing it last year somewhere in the TC, but never quite got around to it.

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

Hey Mark! Good to hear from you. I think it just started in the Beginners forum because the guy that started it was a beginner. Then two summers ago we used the thread to have a MN RCU get...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

Seemed like there were a couple of Seamasters and a lot of people interested.

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

On behalf of the planning committee, feedback received. I'm on the elder board at the church, so I helped coordinate the facility. One of our other club members did detailed scale drawings, to try...

And every fall. They are usually 2 weeks before Memorial Day (fishing opener) and a week or two after Labor Day. Our calendar isn't posted on the website yet, but when it is go to tcrconline.com. ...

RE: Minnesota Frozen Float Fly Jan 31st

I definitely enjoyed the watching and the meeting more than the flying (not that I didn't enjoy the flying). It's scary to say, but I must be getting old. I think I enjoy just spending time with...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

OK, Bush Lake is a no-go. There is a pond hockey tournament on the lake out in front of the beach (prime flying area) from 12-5 on both Sat. and Sun. When I called the city, the nice lady said,...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

I'm game. Only one issue with our proposed location: Yesterday, I drove by Bush Lake and for some reason decided to stop by the public access. There was a sign up that said "No vehicles on Bush...

RE: GP J-3 Cub, 40 size, Anyone???

I've built and flown the GP .60 size Cub. I believe the .40 has a little different design. If you can afford a 4-stroke, go for it. Cubs beg to have a 4-stroke. Any .60 to .70 size 4stroke would...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

This weekend is supposed to be pretty crappy weather-wise, anyway (single digit highs, very windy). TCRC is Twin Cities Radio Controllers (www.tcrconline.com). Our field is in Jordan and we have...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

Curtis-

I don't think TCRC would want to do it as an official event. Because people fly off the snow at the regular club field, I don't think there would be much interest in having a separate...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

"Frozen Float Fly" sounds like a great idea, but I'm a little leary about gathering very many folks together at Lake Calhoun. A few too many people and too great a chance for interference from MPD. ...

RE: Minnesota flyers where are you ?

Uh, Mike, I think most of the young folks would actually say "stoked", although what you do in the privacy of your own home is none of my business. ;)
