Futaba and MPI put out no load 8.5 volts, center tap positive.

The Spektrum is 7.0 volts, center tap negative.

Try draining the tank from the fuel line to the needle valve. If the tank only drains half way then fuel line has come off inside the tank. It will run well, then quit as the fuel surges to the back...

Radio Shack has the banana posts that are screw type also. Back off the colar and there is a place to put the wire through, then tighten down. That might be what you are looking for.
