RE: Calculating Wind Speeds With RPM

Good enough for me! I'm actually using an 11x7 prop instead of the recommended 11x8 prop. I wasn't sure if the different prop pitch really changed anything in the equation or not. All I want is to...

Calculating Wind Speeds With RPM

I know that wind speeds can be determined by using a prop and tachometer. This in effect is called an anemometer.

Now here's my question:
What is the mathematical equation to determine wind...

RE: Set Ups for 3D Buddies

I epoxied my wing & horizontal stab in to avoid what you're talking about. The loose mounting is rather cheezy if you ask me and acutally one of the mounts broke off when I tested it for soundness. ...

RE: RCUniverse.com Flatout

You know.......you're absolutely right: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. You either like things or you don't. And no one particular group is...

RE: RCUniverse.com Flatout

Think about it guys.....these are cheap ***** "foam" planes. They are supposed to be quick & easy to build. Why design a plane that is complicated and frustrating to assemble? Personally, the way GP...

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee

I've still got my Bee although it is hangin' from the ceiling in semi-retirement......... I haven't flown glow in over a year. I've thought about making a smaller version of the Lazy Bee that I...

RE: Bi-planes

Ditto! If you can't proficiently use rudder input in conjunction with aileron and elevator - you're not going to fly 3D! It takes constant input on ALL the sticks to make it happen sucessfully.

RE: Anyone Flying Esky V3 Lama?

As far as parts replacements - that will depend on you. If you keep it from tipping over and running in to things, the parts will not be an issue. Here is a web site that sells replacement parts...

RE: Anyone Flying Esky V3 Lama?

J-Cube,

The Lama (which is a fixed pitch, coaxial type heli) does not fly nor does it react as quickly (or violently) like a collective pitch heli. It is very stable in a hover and in flight...

RE: Anyone Flying Esky V3 Lama?

J-Cube,

The Lama is very easy to fly once you get the hang of it. If you have not flown helis before, there will be a little learning curve involved but it's not impossible to be sucessful with...

RE: Set Ups for 3D Buddies

Keith,

Great minds think alike! I've been doing the very same thing - integrating a built up wing with foam. I use the Blue Cor foam ('cause that's what I keep on hand) on the fuse and the aft...

RE: Apex Lipoly batteries superior?

WRK -

I have one of the Apex 1300mAh 3-cell batts and really like it. It weighs just a tad bit more than the TP1320's but performs every bit as good if not better. For the price difference you...

RE: Charging a Lipo Twice?

I've been "peak charging" my TP1320's like this on a Hobbico field charger for over a year now and the batteries are still performing like new. That's not to say that over a longer period that it...

RE: Set Ups for 3D Buddies

Thanks again for your input. Sounds as if you're pretty well set with your Buddy. The weight of yours is about where it should be (I would think) just wished mine was in the same range. Oh...

RE: Set Ups for 3D Buddies

Maidened the Edge Buddy yesterday.......the winds were not "ideal" for a maiden flight - 15 plus MPH but I couldn't stand it much longer! Went down to the city park and tossed her in to the wind - a...

RE: Set Ups for 3D Buddies

Thanks for your response on this bird. I've heard that the Hacker motor is a good one. I've considered getting one several times and just may yet. The Himax 2812 is one of my favorites but I'm...

RE: Anyone Flying Esky V3 Lama?

moonsnake -

If you have a little cheapo 2-cell 700 mAh - like E-Tec - it's thin enough to slide through the front of the heli without having to take off the battery tray. Although I get better...

RE: New YT Katana 40

Don't worry about too much power dude - go for it! The 91 will work out best for you in the long run considering the 50 is not enough power and also since you had to add weight. The 91...

RE: Anyone Flying Esky V3 Lama?

I got the Lama V3 a couple of weeks ago. What a hoot - 2 thumbs up! It is great for an entry level heli and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a less expensive alternative to the BCX.

Once...
